Young Space Explorers | Event 1

About this event

The STEM Enrichment team, in collaboration with the Australian Space Agency and Optus Centre Sydney, presents 'Young Space Explorers'. Join us online or in person on 25 September to meet Australian astronaut and Space Systems Engineer Katherine Bennell-Pegg, the first person qualified as an astronaut under the Australian flag.

Online Session: Open to students across Australia, registration to open soon.
In-person experience: Limited spots for schools to visit Optus Centre Sydney, Macquarie Park and participate in hands-on space workshops.
Bus grants: Available to assist some schools with travel.
Cost: Free

Optus Young Space Explorers Activities 

Specific activities during the day that students can choose to be part of;

  • Special guest presentation Katherine Bennell-Pegg
  • Space Science Inquiry Activities – Presented by ‘Fizzics Education’
  • Learn how gravity can bend spacetime and its implications for planetary orbits, gravitational lensing and GPS
  • Discover how light is used to investigate stars, galaxies & black holes
  • Investigate the forces in spinning objects and how they affect axial precession of planets through to spacecraft orientation
  • AI Robotics workshop
