WATCH: “The Space Race” Webinar Recording

SISP Program

In case you missed it, you can now watch the recording of the first episode of BESydney's ‘Anticipating Tomorrow: Global Insights Series’. In Episode 1, titled "The Space Race,” you will hear expert panellists Professor Russell Boyce, Ingrid Marsh, Dr Scott Sleap and Rod Drury discuss the future of Australia’s Space Industry. The panel discusses how Australia is taking giant leaps in space innovation and what we need to do as a nation to facilitate innovation and advancement into the future.

SISP Project Lead, Dr Scott Sleap, was invited to discuss how we can inspire the next generation of space innovators. Scott encourages us to take a long-term perspective on workforce development and focus on developing an ecosystem that inspires students to participate in STEM through the collaboration of business, government, the NSW Department of Education, universities and TAFE.

All panellists were especially excited about Australia hosting COSPAR 2021 in Sydney. They view COSPAR as an opportunity to showcase the Australian Space Industry on a global scale and inspire the next generation of space through COSPAR-K. COSPAR-K is a free space STEM event that will run in partnership with the NSW Department of Education’s STEM Industry School Partnerships (SISP) Program alongside the Scientific Assembly (COSPAR 2021). This dedicated STEM Park and COSPAR-K TV will feature an array of interactive experiences and activations specially designed for students, teachers and parents to get hands on and participate in. Industry and government partners will also provide opportunities to discover the latest innovations and also provide fun through exploration. COSPAR-K will be a great space to ignite passion in our future thinkers and leaders.
