Professor of Practice UNSW & Former Head of Operations Red Bull F1 Re-Engineering Australia Foundation recorded an interview with Prof Richard Hopkins during the recent 2020 F1 in Schools State Finals hosted in Sydney. Richard regularly takes time out of his busy schedule to help inspire Australian students in F1 in Schools.
Richard is currently the Professor of Practice UNSW Engineering and heads up the Sunswift Institute. Richard spent many years as an Engineer at Brabham F1 and Red Bull F1, where he became the Head of Operations.
Richard examines the connections between F1 in Schools and careers in Engineering. His perspective of starting his journey as a 16-year-old and working his way through to the top of F1 is inspiring.
Richard recently bought his F1 management skills to the Sun Swift solar car project at the UNSW. On their first attempt with Richard as the guiding force, the UNSW team won the World Solar Car Challenge.
